Something Old When we travel, we take a little bit of everything: for cold weather, we bring coats; for sunny days, we bring dresses or shorts. Jeans are always needed, so we take them too. We are filling our suitcase thinking, "I may need this in the future". That’s exactly what we do with our lives: we carry heavy and unnecessary baggage. After all, it is very difficult to leave behind our favorite blouse, the one that has been with us for such a long time. It’s difficult to get rid of addictions, they are all so very well kept. What about disappointments? We've carried them for so many years, we even forget they're in the suitcase we carry everyday. In our walk we must leave things behind as we go. If the bag is too heavy, we will be in pain, or maybe we won’t even be able to reach the end of the trip. When we accept Jesus, He carries our suitcases and confirms that we no longer need to carry all that weight. He takes away everything that overwhelms us by setting us free. Free to the point where we can run and not get tired. Jesus cares about your “today”, and for that reason, your old burdens do not weigh on you anymore. We must learn how to let God take all our luggage, do not take whatever’s old with you.
