Sinunod ni Josue ang utos ni Moises at hinarap niya ang mga Amalekita. Si Moises naman, kasama sina Aaron at Hur ay nagpunta sa burol. Kapag nakataas ang mga kamay ni Moises, nananalo ang mga Israelita; kapag nakababa, nananalo naman ang mga Amalekita. Nangawit na si Moises kaya sina Aaron at Hur ay kumuha ng isang bato at pinaupo roon si Moises habang hawak nilang pataas ang mga kamay nito hanggang sa lumubog ang araw. Dahil dito'y natalo ni Josue ang mga Amalekita.
