Immanuel 

One day, a little boy came home, jumping with joy to get ready to go to his friend’s birthday party. At that time, dark clouds gathered in the sky. There was a blizzard outside. His father said, “Son how can you go out in this weather? It’s so cold and it’s raining hard?” But, the son was exuberant and said, “Dad, I want to go to my friend’s birthday party. I will take care.” The father thought for a moment and said, “Yes, you can go.” The little boy jumped up and down and reached his friend’s home with great difficulty. It was pitch dark and raining. He sensed a dark shadow hovering around him and turned back to see who it was. Oh! It was his daddy! He was amazed by his father’s love. 

My dear friend, though the father allowed his son to go in the cold and dark weather, he went after him to guard him from all danger. This is a father’s heart. Beloved, two thousand years ago, Jesus Christ was born in this world as a little boy. An Angel of the Lord proclaimed His birth and said, “Call His name Immanuel.” Immanuel means “God with us.” Beloved, as a child of God, you are never alone. God is with you at all times. 

Prayer

“Loving heavenly Father, You sent Your only son Jesus to this earth for my sake to be with me at all times. Even now, with the confidence of Your assured presence and help, I bring all the cares of this day and cast them on you. Bless me and make me prosper. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
