Traditions 

Many years ago, the British were ruling India. As the Governor of Calcutta was walking along the seashore, he saw a young Bengali woman trying to commit suicide by jumping into the sea. He caught hold of her and enquired about her. She said “My husband just died. I am a young widow. We have a custom here that, when the husband dies, his wife has to jump into the fire. I don’t want to follow that tradition.” The Governor asked her, “Woman, will you marry me?” She had no words to express her gratitude. That British Governor married her. Within a few minutes, the widow who was about to end her life, became the wife of a Governor. She bore him four beautiful children. They lived happily as husband and wife. 

Beloved, are you oppressed by your customs and traditions? Are you oppressed because of wrong authorities? Are you oppressed by your own family members? Do not worry. God will transcend your traditions and customs to bless you with your heart’s desires. Nothing can stop God from blessing you. Lean on Jesus. He will grant favour in the sight of the people. Abundant life is yours. 

Prayer

“Loving heavenly Father, I bring all my oppressions before You. Lord, intervene in my situation. Let Your mighty hand bring forth favour in the eyes of people. Satisfy my heart’s desires. Deliver our society from wrong customs and traditions. Let Your light of love shine in all their lives. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
