Doers of the Word 

Whatever words you utter, choose with great care, as it will affect the hearer for good or bad. Above all, when words turn into actions, they have a great impact on one’s life. One day, a mother brought her little son to Mahatma Gandhi and pleaded with him to advise her son. Gandhi asked, “For what?” She said, “He eats a lot of sweets.” Gandhi said, “Madam, give me three days time.” She went away with her son. After three days, she came back with her son to Gandhi. He spoke to the boy and advised him not to eat a lot of sweets. The lady was astonished and asked him, “You could have advised my son three days back.” “Madam, I too love sweets. For his sake, I gave up my practice of eating sweets. Now, I can set an example and am in a position to advise him.” 

We make our words effective when we put it into practice. Meditation on the word of God enables you into it. It causes words and thoughts to sink deep into your spirit. When it enters your spirit, you will automatically do what God wants you to do. So, as a Christian, you need not struggle to do God’s commandments. Rest on God by meditating on His nature and His promises. You will be a doer of the word. 

Prayer

“Loving Father, I thank You for the indwelling Holy Spirit who helps me to do what the Word says. I choose meditation as the key to success. Fill my thoughts with Your thoughts, so that I can ponder over Your nature and Your promises. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”
