No Comparison

God is preparing something for His people. This reality will be so glorious, so encompassing, and so moving that the worst sufferings now will be totally eclipsed then. This glory will eliminate any question of what God was doing in allowing our sufferings. Apologetics will be unnecessary. It will all make sense the moment our eyes see God in eternity and He pulls the cover off of what He has waited centuries to present: paradise. This glory He has been preparing for us is not the place where we will find all the answers. It is the answer. For the child of God, any "comparisons" will be as out of place as a billionaire complaining about losing pocket change in the laundry. What we will have will make the recollection of what we didn’t have too microscopic to even mention. Everything our Lord has secured for us on the cross—redemption, forgiveness and eternal joy—will no longer be an issue of faith, but of sight! We will see Him and be made like Him. Let this awesome truth color the troubles of your life.

Among other things, what we will gain are reminders that our best days are always ahead. We aren't home yet. As tough as it gets being on the road of this life, take comfort that all its bumps and sharp turns will melt away in the face of our final destination. That's a promise. And when we trust Him, our faith is strengthened and our joy is increased.

Prayer: Lord, help us to draw strength for our earthly affairs from our heavenly promise: to be with you in perfect peace, forever.
