May 6 – The Unity of Scripture

The unity of Scripture means that the entire Bible, though written by different authors over many years, carries one consistent message. It does not contradict itself but works together as a complete revelation of God’s plan. From Genesis to Revelation, there is coherence and continuity.

This matters because it helps the believer interpret Scripture correctly. No verse stands alone in isolation. Each part contributes to the whole. Understanding this unity prevents misinterpretation and ensures that doctrines are built on the full counsel of God, not on isolated passages.

When the unity of Scripture is ignored, people begin to build beliefs from fragments. Verses are taken out of context, leading to error and confusion. This is how false teachings emerge. Without recognising the unity of Scripture, understanding becomes distorted and incomplete.

DAILY EXERCISE
Take one verse you know well. Read it in its full chapter and note how it fits into the broader message.

PRAYER
Father, help me to understand Your Word as a unified whole. Give me insight to see how Scripture connects and reveals Your plan. I pray for believers, leaders, students, and families across Nigeria that they will grow in a sound understanding of Your Word. Lord, we ask for unity in the Church worldwide through the truth of the Scriptures. Let Your Word bring clarity and alignment across nations.
