Seen in the distance

Not once have I found myself asking, “God, are You even there?” And when I do ask, “If You are God, please show up,” it’s never casual. It comes through tears, through deep pain, through heavy doubt. Sometimes, I’ve already convinced myself of the answer—that maybe He doesn’t care about my pain at all. And can I be honest about something else? I’ve hidden. I’ve avoided Him completely. I’ve stepped away from what I know is His presence—stopped praying, stopped worshipping, withdrawn into myself. Almost like saying, “God, I’m just a girl… and if You don’t see me, then I won’t look at You either.” But even in those moments, I know that’s not how He sees me. It’s as if He gently whispers, “You know I see you.” There’s nowhere I can go where He isn’t. No depth I can fall into where His presence cannot reach me. And somehow, even when I’m not intentionally seeking Him, He still finds me. In the quiet, subtle ways. A song playing at the right moment. A passing conversation where a simple sentence speaks directly to my heart. The smallest, almost unspoken prayers—those fleeting thoughts I barely count as prayers—He answers them, as if to remind me, “I see you.” And in those seasons, even when I feel distant, even when I resist, He is still there—patient, present, and near. Slowly, faithfully, He is becoming more than just God I call on in crisis. He is becoming my Father—my ever-present, omnipresent Father—who never loses sight of His child.
