JustificationSample

Romans 3:23 NET
[23] For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Today, we must consider briefly what necessitated Justification. In our text, we see that there is a cosmic scope to sin; a universal guiltiness is attributed to mankind. All men have sinned, and all men do sin. Therefore, all men are sinners and are guilty of judgment or condemnation. In our present world, every society has a form of justice system set up to punish and condemn those who offend the laws of that society, and everyone found guilty before the law faces the wrath of the law. In that same way, the entire human race has sinned against God and His Holy Judgement. The Apostle Paul declares, "So then, just as sin entered the world through one man and death through sin, and so death spread to all people because all sinned – "(Romans 5:12 NET). When Adam (the human representative) sinned against God, we also partook of that transgression. The human race transgressed against a Holy God in whom is no darkness at all(1 John 1:5), therefore we are deserving of His wrath and judgment.
Because of our gross sinfulness and the judgment that has now become our lot, we became in dire need of mercy and acquittal. Justification is God acquitting us. We deserved judgment and punishment, but God, in His mercy and graciousness, acquitted us. And we who were destined for judgment have now become recipients of justification. Faith is therefore the means by which we receive this acquittal from God. Our faith is not what brings (it is not a cause of) justification, rather our faith is simply a means by which we obtain the justification that God provided for those who believe in Christ Jesus.
Our hearts must overflow with thanksgiving because God gave us what we did not deserve; what we do deserve is judgment, and the hailstorm of God's fury rained upon us, but God gave us mercy instead and justified us. We indeed have received what we do not deserve but greatly need. How beautiful and intricate are God's thoughts towards us (Psalms 92:5-6). Glory to God forevermore.
