Creation Care

DAY 2 OF 3

God's Call to Fairness

The prophets did not stay silent when they saw injustice. Isaiah warned against laws that crushed the poor. Jeremiah confronted those who built success by taking advantage of others. Ezekiel grieved a society where the powerful used both people and land for their own gain.

The prophets were not introducing a new idea about justice. They were calling God’s people back to the purpose they had forgotten. From the beginning, humanity was entrusted with caring for the earth with wisdom, mercy, and responsibility.

When we turn away from that calling, both people and the land suffer. Dominion without righteousness becomes exploitation.

When the land is treated as something to be used up instead of cared for, the most vulnerable often suffer first. But God’s vision has always been different. He desires an abundant life for people and for the places they call home.

Creation care and justice belong together. God calls us to care for the earth with humility and to stand with those whose lives depend on it. When we steward creation with love and wisdom, we reflect His heart for restoration.

As we nurture the soil and honor the dignity of others, we join God in His work of renewing both the land and His people.

Reflection Question

Where might God be inviting you to care more intentionally for both people and the land especially in ways that protect the vulnerable?

Prayer Prompt

Lord, open my eyes to the ways injustice affects both Your people and Your creation. Give me a heart that reflects Yours; one that seeks restoration, walks humbly, and stewards the earth with love. Show me how I can stand with those in need and care for what You have entrusted to us. Amen.
