When Heroes FallSample

THE HERO JESUS
Who is Jesus? How does he compare to other heroes?
The writer of Hebrews gave a beautiful description of Jesus when they wrote, “The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven” (Hebrews 1:3 NLT).
In the book of Hebrews, the author tells us that Jesus is greater than . . .
·Angels (1:4-14)
·Moses (3:1-6)
·Joshua (4:1-11)
·Levitical Priests (4:14-10:18)
·The Old Covenant (8:6-13)
·The Tabernacle and Temple (9:1-14)
You can add your hero to this list. Jesus is greater than them, too.
Jesus is “the champion who initiates and perfects our faith” (Hebrews 12:2 NLT). He completes what He starts. He will never let us down.
We can be thankful for what our heroes contributed to our lives, but they could never do anything remotely close to what Jesus has done for us.
The same God who spoke the world into existence with His words knows the number of hairs on your head. The same God who keeps the sun and the earth the perfect distance apart so the planet can sustain life bottles the tears you cry. The same God who created the mountains and oceans wrapped Himself in flesh and died for you. The same God who walked on water was raised from the dead for your redemption.
There is no God like the God of the Bible. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He will never let you down. His gifts are good; His love is free. He always has your best interests at heart. No one can compare or come close.
This is the Hero you want to encounter, and this is the God who desperately wants to know you.
What are you doing now to experience Jesus in your life?
