DELIVERED & DELUSIONAL
What God has done in your life is powerful, but it’s nothing compared to what He’s going to do. Some people hear that with faith, while others hear it with cynicism. The difference isn’t God’s ability. It’s perspective.
Some of you are first-generation chain breakers. Patterns that ran in your bloodline—backup plans, dishonesty, hidden compromises—are stopping with you. You’ve been delivered from what held others back. But deliverance alone doesn’t guarantee forward movement.
It’s possible to be delivered and still be delusional.
You can leave Egypt and still think like Egypt. You can make progress and then quietly sabotage it. Maybe you made it out of the environment that shaped you, but you still operate from its mindset. You’re not broke anymore, but you still live like lack is chasing you. You’re no longer bound by the old patterns, yet something followed you out, and now it has to come out of you.
The journey out of Egypt’s captivity and into promise should have taken 11-days for the Israelites, but it stretched into decades because the destination required maturity. Freedom requires a new mindset. Forward requires transformation. The wilderness isn’t punishment. It is preparation. God hasn’t forgotten His promise, but He is trying to prepare you for it.
Sometimes we get frustrated with where we are, assuming God has stalled. But often, He’s exposing what still needs to be surrendered. When we stop aligning with His standards and start living by our feelings, we delay what He already promised.
In the Transformation Church sermon “Delivered and Delusional," we’re encouraged that God’s Word is our standard. If you don’t have a standard, you don’t have anything solid to stand on. God’s measurement doesn’t shift with culture, comfort, or emotion. It’s the only standard that steadily holds the vision of what could be. Forward isn’t just about being free from something. It’s about being formed into someone.
You don’t move forward just by being delivered.
You move forward by maturing.
Reflection:
Where are you still thinking like “Egypt,” even though you’ve left it?
Is there an area where progress is being counteracted by old patterns?
Prayer:
God, thank You for delivering me. Now, help me mature. Expose any mindset that doesn’t align with Your standard. Give me the courage to fully leave behind what I’ve already been freed from. Form me into who You’re calling me to be as I move forward. In Jesus’ name, amen!
