DAY 3 - CONTROLLING THE TONGUE
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”- we all know that’s not true.
Words do have power.
Proverbs describes speech as something that can heal or wound.
“There is one who speaks rashly, like a piercing sword…” (Prov. 12:18)
James 3 says the tongue, though small, can create massive destruction.
Anger, lies, selfishness, or quick reactions can deeply hurt others.
But the good news:
“…the tongue of the wise brings healing.” (Prov. 12:18)
Encouraging words can light up a child’s face… or restore hope to a discouraged athlete.
Your words can heal.
REFLECTION
• Have you been hurt by someone’s words?
• Have your words hurt someone?
• When has someone built you up with their words?
• How can you begin using your tongue to encourage others?
PRAYER
Father, help my words bring healing. Teach me to speak truth, love, and encouragement. Amen.
SCRIPTURE
Proverbs 12:6, 17-18
James 1:19; 3:1-12
