Dedication

This episode of The Chosen centers on the Feast of Dedication. The people of Israel celebrate God’s faithfulness to them and renew their commitment to Him. You can see it in their meals, traditions, songs, and Scripture readings.

Their dedication is something physical: something you can touch, taste, and see.

Sometimes our own dedication to Jesus can start to feel mostly “spiritual,” almost like an idea in our heads instead of something lived out in our day-to-day actions. But Jesus calls us to a faith that is visible and tangible.

In Mark 10, Jesus speaks about “tangible”, real-life things: houses, brothers, mothers, fields, children. He says that “If you leave these things behind for My sake, you are blessed.”

There’s a promise, both for now and for what’s to come.

So what does dedication look like for you?

What do you give up or offer to live fully for Jesus? Maybe its your time, your comfort, your resources, or your plans. Dedication is not a feeling; it’s expressed through choices, habits, and commitments.

Notice Peter’s response to Jesus in this passage. He says, “We have left everything to follow You.” We. Following Jesus is not a solo mission. Dedication grows stronger in community. We encourage one another, remind one another, and celebrate together.

Today, take time to reflect on the kind of dedication Jesus is inviting you into and who you can bring on the journey with you.

Reflection Questions

• What do you think Jesus means by leaving things “for the sake of the Gospel”? What do you think He doesn’t mean?
• How have you dedicated specific parts of your life to Jesus? Think about your relationships, school, work, etc.
• Is there an area where Jesus is inviting you to re-dedicate yourself to Him today?
• Who do you follow Jesus with, and how does that community strengthen your commitment?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your complete dedication. I want to follow You with my whole life. Help me live out my devotion in real and practical ways. Renew my heart today, and surround me with people who help me stay faithful. Amen.
