Dedication (S4-E6)

DAY 3 OF 4

I've got an idea

Judas has an idea. It’s not unusual for him. As the disciple who manages the money, he’s often thinking ahead and worried about resources, so, he plans, calculates, and comes up with solutions. That’s simply how he’s wired.

Can you relate? Some people are “idea machines,” always brainstorming, organizing, and imaging what could work? That kind of creativity is a gift.

But here’s an important question: Do your ideas line up with God’s ways?

Proverbs 3 reminds us to trust the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. That means taking our plans and ideas, even our best ones, and placing them before God. Ask for His blessing, His wisdom, His feedback. Let Him direct your path.

Isaiah 55 tells us why: because God’s thoughts and ways are far higher than ours. His perspective reaches farther than we can see, and His wisdom goes deeper than we can understand. This is why we bring our plans to Him. Not because our ideas are bad, but because His are always better.

Later in the episode, John sits beside Judas. He pours him a cup and starts a conversation. It’s beautiful to see how John doesn’t ignore or judge Judas. He simply encourages him to check his plans with Jesus. We all need people like that–people who listen, stay close, and point us back to Jesus when we rush ahead.

Can you be that kind of a friend for someone else?

Reflection Questions

  • How do you test your ideas and plans to see if they align with God’s will?
  • What helps you bring your ideas to God before you act?
  • Who helps you process your ideas and seek Jesus?
  • How can you offer that kind of support to someone else?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the creativity You have given me. Help me to bring my plans and thoughts to You first. Teach me to trust Your wisdom more than my own. Lead me in Your ways today. Amen.
