Deeper Waters: Trusting God When It Doesn’t Make SenseSample

Reading: Matthew 4:18-22; Matthew 28:18-20
Devotional:
Jesus called ordinary fishermen to an extraordinary purpose: “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” That invitation still stands.
Evangelism isn’t just preaching on a stage, it’s loving people well, sharing your story, and living in a way that points to Jesus. Every believer is part of the Great Commission. God has positioned you exactly where He wants to reach others through you.
Reflect on how you can “fish” in your daily world, at work, at school, or in your neighborhood. You never know whose eternity might change because you said yes.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for calling me to be part of Your mission. Open my eyes to people who need Your love. Give me boldness to share the gospel and wisdom to do it with compassion. Make me a fisher of people wherever I go. In Your name, amen.
Application:
Ask God for one opportunity this week to share your faith, through prayer, encouragement, or a conversation. Step into it courageously and give God the glory.

About this Plan

Faith doesn’t always make sense. Sometimes God asks us to cast our nets where we’ve already failed, to obey when it seems impossible, or to let go of what we love most. This 5-day devotional invites you to trust God when logic runs out, obey when it’s costly, and follow Jesus wherever He leads. Based on key moments of surrender from Scripture, Deeper Waters will challenge you to trust His Word, walk in obedience, and live on mission with confidence that His ways are higher than ours.
