Deeper Waters: Trusting God When It Doesn’t Make SenseSample

Reading: Mark 10:17-31
Devotional:
The fishermen left their nets, their livelihood and success, to follow Jesus. The rich young ruler, though religious, couldn’t release what he loved most.
True discipleship costs something. Jesus doesn’t want half our hearts; He wants all of us. The reward of following Him far outweighs what we leave behind, but the letting-go part still takes courage.
Reflect on what might be holding you back - control, comfort, reputation, or fear. Jesus promises that whatever we surrender for His sake will return multiplied, both now and in eternity.
Prayer:
Lord, reveal anything that competes for my devotion. Give me the strength to lay it down and the faith to follow You fully. Remind me that nothing I give up for You is ever wasted. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Application:
Make a list of things that capture your time and attention more than God. Choose one to release this week, an activity, habit, or possession, and use that space to draw closer to Him.

About this Plan

Faith doesn’t always make sense. Sometimes God asks us to cast our nets where we’ve already failed, to obey when it seems impossible, or to let go of what we love most. This 5-day devotional invites you to trust God when logic runs out, obey when it’s costly, and follow Jesus wherever He leads. Based on key moments of surrender from Scripture, Deeper Waters will challenge you to trust His Word, walk in obedience, and live on mission with confidence that His ways are higher than ours.
