Blessed Are the Spiraling: 7-Days to Finding True Significance When Life Sends You SpiralingSample

Spiraling Up
Seasons of uncertainty and spiraling can feel like standing on a mountain and seeing both directions at once: the long slope behind you and the steep drop ahead. At the start of my own 2-year season of spiraling (a midlife crisis that I didn't want to call a midlife crisis), I felt lost on the mountain, but I ended it feeling found. I realized: I am prepared to leave this world, not in a morbid way but in a way that sees eternity so clearly that earth finally finds its right size.
This world is not your final home. One day, heaven and earth will be made new. The most ordinary object will be as holy as the high priest’s garments. Creation will sing. The stories you love that hint at talking trees and healed worlds? They may be closer to prophecy than we think.
If that’s true, then clutching this life as if it’s the pearl of great price is a tragic mistake. There’s a hole in the bottom of this world’s bucket. Success, status, youth, relevance, retirement fantasies—none of them can hold the weight of your soul.
Heaven doesn’t erase the pain of earth; it reverses it. C. S. Lewis said that in the end, heaven will work backward, turning even the worst of earthly sorrows into glory. Think of a long separation followed by a reunion that is so good it swallows the ache and somehow makes the love deeper because of what you went through.
Think of the tornado. Tornadoes are spirals of chaos, tearing through lives seemingly at random. They’re rated after they pass, by the destruction they leave behind. However, built into creation is another spiral, known as the Fibonacci spiral. It’s found in seashells, rams’ horns, and galaxies. It’s a spiral of beauty, order, and design.
Your life may feel like the first kind of spiral—chaotic, destructive, out of control. But in Christ, there’s another spiral available: one that brings beauty. One that turns suffering into worship, panic into prayer, grief into glory. The same spiral that seems to be taking you down can, in Jesus’ hands, become the very path that lifts you up.
One day, everything crooked will be straightened. Everything painful will be reversed. Everything ordinary will shine. And when that day comes, you’ll see that nothing in this life—no transition, no loss, no late-night fear—was wasted. It was all leading you toward the world that is coming, the one more real than this one.
Your spiral is not the end. It is the beginning of glory.
Prayer:
Jesus, help me see my spiraling not as the end of me, but as the place where You can meet me, reshape me, and prepare me for the world to come. Make me ready to live well and ready to die well. Amen.
Today:
Think about the spiral you’re in right now. Instead of asking, “How do I get out of this?” ask, “Lord, what do You want to bring out of this?” Take a few minutes to journal what God has taught you in your spiraling season and what He may be wanting to produce in you.

Thank you for coming on this journey! I am cheering you on as you spiral up into all God has for you!
Much love,
Levi
