Thou Shalt Be Loyal and Faithful

Faithfulness secures the marriage covenant.

Scripture honors the marriage bed and calls for purity within the covenant. Faithfulness includes sexual exclusivity, but it goes deeper: emotional loyalty, steadfastness in time of testing, and refusal to compare or covet what others appear to have. While the “grass is greener” myth tempts many, faithfulness says, “I will invest here.”

Guard your heart by acknowledging vulnerability.

Preventative practices matter: accountability partners, transparent devices, and agreed boundaries with friendships and media. When attraction to another arises, act immediately; distance yourself, confess to your spouse or a trusted mentor, and pursue restoration steps. Waiting or rationalizing allows small affections to become inordinate attachments.

Faithfulness is proactive devotion and entails public affirmation, private loyalty, and daily choices to return to your spouse emotionally and physically. If betrayal has occurred, faithfulness is the long work of rebuilding trust through consistent truth-telling and patient repentance.

A faithful marriage is not built by chance. It is built by deliberate, covenantal choices that declare loyalty in word and deed.
