Wake Me Up, Lord: Rediscover Who You Are in ChristSample

Day 2: Set Free by Truth
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
John 8:34–36 NIV
So, what holds you back? Would you be surprised that sin is anything that pulls you away from the love and truth of God. Sometimes it’s loud and obvious. Other times it hides behind habits, shame, or subtle compromise.
Sin is not your name.
Jesus doesn’t leave you estranged from Him. He names the problem so that He can reach out and rescue you. Sin may be part of your story, but it’s not your name. In Christ, you’re no longer a slave—you’re a son, a daughter, and a beloved child who belongs in the family of God.
Let His freedom define you instead of past failures. Jesus came to break sin’s grip on us. When He says you are free, He means truly free—unshackled from guilt, restored to belonging, invited to live as someone made new.
That’s what it means to wake up. Come alive and stop living under the weight of what once held you. You can start walking in the identity Jesus secured for you this very moment.
Today, take one step toward freedom. Confess what’s been heavy. Breathe in the grace that’s already yours. Let His truth remind you of who you are.
Pray
Jesus, thank You for naming the problem and setting me free. I want to live like someone who belongs in Your family. Help me walk in the freedom You’ve already given me.
Say
I am a child of God—redeemed, loved, and free.
