Choosing WisdomSample

WISDOM REQUIRES A STRONG FOUNDATION
Matthew 7:24-27 (NLT) “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
Mindful Minute
One of the simplest analogies for understanding this verse is to picture a child building a beautiful sandcastle on the beach. There is pleasure in the making and satisfaction in the beauty of the final creation. Yet we all know that when the tide comes in or a strong wave hits, this thing of beauty that took so much time and care to create will crumble in seconds. Everything that looked sturdy and secure is quickly washed away because the foundation of it was never strong enough to hold.
This is a picture of how many of us build parts of our lives. We pour energy into things that feel good in the moment or look stable from the outside, but without God’s wisdom underneath, they cannot withstand pressure. Emotions, self-reliance, other people’s approval, quick solutions, or habits we think we can control may shine for a season. But the minute life presses in, the wave crashes into us and everything crumbles. What we once hoped would carry us ends up collapsing right when we needed the support the most.
Jesus tells us that wisdom comes from hearing His teaching and following it. In this passage, the rock is not our effort or our good intentions. The rock is Jesus Himself and the firm foundation that comes from obeying His Word. It is choosing His way even when our feelings want to pull us somewhere else. When our foundation is built on His truth, storms will still come, but we will not collapse. We stand because we cling to Him, and He holds us up.
Prayer
Father, I want my life to be built on the rock of your Word. Show me where I have trusted sand instead of your truth. Teach me to listen and obey so that my foundation becomes strong, steady, and unshakable. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

Every harmful pattern begins quietly. A thought that feels harmless. A choice that seems reasonable. A moment when we trust our own insight instead of God’s wisdom. Over time, these small steps pull us away from peace, clarity, and the life He designed for us. This five-day journey will help you recognize subtle deception, hear God’s voice more clearly, build a stronger foundation, and walk in the humility that leads to real change. If you long for renewal, steadiness, and wiser decisions, let God’s wisdom gently guide your next steps.
