Build a Strong Spiritual Life

The third essential for the new year is to focus on building a strong spiritual life. Jesus did not promise we would be exempt from troubles, but that if we build our foundation on the Rock, when the winds and rain come, we will overcome. As long as we are in this world, there will be troubles.

A man's spirit can sustain his infirmity, but if his spirit is broken, who can endure it? When your spirit is broken, you cannot enjoy anything, even physical healing.

Therefore, we must work on our spiritual life. This building must be deliberate. This requires intentionally cultivating hours in prayer, praying in tongues, and praise and worship. You must be deliberate to have a spiritual life that is strong enough to sustain you in times of infirmity and trouble.

Areas where you are weak must be deliberately built up; you cannot excuse it by saying, "That’s not my person." Spiritual life is the foundation that sustains everything else when pressure mounts. It is through the strength of your spirit that you can endure sickness and troubles. The one who waits upon the Lord renews his strength and mounts up with wings like eagles.

Schedule a minimum of 30 minutes of intentional, focused time each day this week for praying in tongues or praise and worship to actively strengthen your inner man.
