Back to the Basics 365Sample

Satan has many tactics and ways to slow down and discourage disciples of Jesus. One of the ways he does this is his accusations toward us. He is described in the Bible as being the accuser of the brethren. No matter the stage of life in which we were saved, we will always have some things in our past that hold us back or make us feel unworthy.
Satan will often remind us of our past to distract and discourage us from serving the Lord. Philippians 3:13-14 says, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” We are encouraged to forget those things that are behind and look forward to what God can do in our lives in the future!
Finally, in pressing on toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus, disciples of Jesus must reject the thoughts that the accuser puts in their minds. Instead, believers should see themselves the way that Jesus sees them, saved by His grace and give a purpose to live for Him!
