A man once asked his friend how he reads the Bible. He replied that it varies. Sometimes he reads for five minutes, other times for hours. Curiously, he asked what guides his choice. He said he reads until God "grabs his heart." In other words, the Bible can be challenging to understand at times, yet God assures us in Scripture that all of it is necessary for our growth (Matthew 4:4).
Before we open the Bible, it would be wise to pray the words of Psalm 119:18: “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.” Ask God to speak to you each time you read His Word. Invite Him to reveal His truths and transform your heart through His Holy Spirit!
