Shutting Out the Critics

Elisha told the widow to shut the door before the miracle began. Why? Because faith often needs protection from doubt, gossip, and well-meaning but discouraging voices.

When Jairus’s daughter lay dead, Jesus also shut the door keeping out the mourners and inviting only those who believed. Faith thrives in environments of expectation.

A Spirit-filled church learns to quiet the noise: the comparisons, the cynicism, the fear of failure. We borrow jars boldly, pray big prayers, and believe God can do immeasurably more even if others don’t understand.

Sometimes, the first miracle is silencing the voices that say, “It’s impossible.”
