Overcoming Barriers

Scripture: Joshua 1:9 (NIV): “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Devotional
Every purpose encounters resistance. Before Joshua entered the Promised Land, God gave him a command—not a suggestion: “Be strong and courageous.” Courage doesn’t mean you never feel fear; it means you move forward despite it.

Fear, doubt, and discouragement are barriers that stall progress. The enemy whispers that you’re not qualified, that it’s too late, or that you’ll fail again. But courage is not built in comfort, it’s built in obedience. Each step of faith weakens fear’s hold.

Joshua’s courage came from God’s promise of presence: “I will be with you.” When you know who walks beside you, no barrier can stand before you. God never sends you where He won’t sustain you.

As you pursue your purpose, expect opposition. But remember, walls fall for the faithful. Keep walking, even when the path feels uncertain. Your obedience invites God’s power to move. Be strong, be courageous, and keep going.

Prayer Declaration
Lord, strengthen my heart when fear tries to paralyze me. Remind me that You are with me and that no obstacle is greater than Your power. Today I choose faith over fear. Amen.
