I recently came across a short video set in the 1980s where teenagers imagined life in the future. They pictured people spending most of their time in front of screens, glued to devices instead of enjoying face-to-face conversations.

It was meant to be futuristic. Instead, it feels all too real.

Our world today is saturated with technology. Social media scrolls fill the hours. People turn to search engines and AI for guidance, sometimes more quickly than they turn to family, friends – or even God.

We can’t simply wish things were different. This is the world we live in. But here’s the good news: what the enemy might use for distraction, God can use for transformation.

At CBN UK, we are committed to stepping into the digital space with purpose. If people are spending their lives online, then we want to meet them there – with hope, with truth, with Jesus. Not by copying the world’s habits, but by offering something different, something eternal.

Romans 12:2 urges us not to conform to the patterns of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. That means not rejecting the digital world outright but instead shining God’s light within it.

Because here’s the incredible opportunity of our age: faith—and more specifically, prayer—can spread faster than ever before. The Gospel can go viral. With one post, one prayer, one video - hope can travel to places we may never step foot in ourselves.

So, let’s be bold. Let’s fill social media feeds with encouragement, truth, and light. Let’s flood the digital space with the hope of Jesus.

PRAY

Father God,

As with all things, there is a capacity for social media and the digital space to be used for negative purposes. My prayer is that you will use both my prayers and my presence online to cut through the darkness and shed your light.

When I am tempted to succumb to cultural norms and societal pressures to conform, endlessly scrolling and adding to the algorithm, convict me by your Holy Spirit. I want to be a positive influence online Lord, and a life pointing towards You.
