NOT MY WILL: 5 Days in GethsemaneSample

"Nevertheless" Faith
Devotion: "Nevertheless." That's the hinge word. The turning point. The moment where human desire submits to divine will.
Jesus acknowledged His feelings: "Take this cup from Me." But He didn't stop there. He added: "Nevertheless." Despite My feelings. Despite My desire. Despite My preference—not what I will, but what You will.
"Nevertheless" is the language of faith. It's the word you pray when:
- Your prayer isn't answered the way you want—nevertheless, I trust You.
- Your circumstances don't make sense—nevertheless, I obey You.
- Your heart is breaking—nevertheless, I worship You.
"Nevertheless" faith doesn't deny pain. It acknowledges the struggle but chooses surrender anyway. It's not fake positivity. It's real faith.
Peter tried to rebuke Jesus when He predicted the cross. "This shall not happen to You!" (Matthew 16:22). Jesus responded, "Get behind Me, Satan!" (v. 23). Why so harsh? Because Peter was opposing God's will with human reasoning.
"Nevertheless" faith says: "My reasoning doesn't override Your will. My preferences don't trump Your plan. My feelings don't dictate Your faithfulness."
This is the hardest prayer to pray. It costs everything. But it's the only prayer that leads to resurrection. Jesus prayed "nevertheless" on Thursday night. By Sunday morning, the tomb was empty.
Your "nevertheless" might feel like death. But resurrection is coming.
Declaration: "I pray 'nevertheless' today. Not my will, not my way, not my timing—but Yours, God. I trust You more than I trust my understanding."
Prayer: "Father, I choose Your will over my comfort. I choose Your plan over my preference. I choose Your glory over my relief. Nevertheless—not what I will, but what You will. I trust You. In Jesus' name, amen."
