Prayers for the Adoption Journey

DAY 6 OF 7

Day 6: Strong & Resilient

What is needed for everyone on the adoption journey? Strength and resilience. Strength to endure the tough moments, and the resilience to learn from them and grow.

The good news is that no matter how hard the moment, God promises to be with us. He goes before us and will never leave us. This truth can bring courage to our hearts, especially when we feel like what is being asked of us is more than we can handle. Knowing He is with us allows us to rely on His strength and power. We are stronger because He is with us.

  • He was and is with the birth mom as she said goodbye to the child she had carried for nine months.
  • He was and is with the adoptive family in their waiting and the uncertainty.
  • He was and is with the adoptee, from the womb to the moments of making sense of their adoption journey.

When you pray, you encounter God’s presence. Praying daily with your adoptive child is a powerful way to teach them that God is always with them. No matter what they face, they can rely on the Lord to strengthen them and walk with them every step of the way.

This is also an important reminder for adoptive parents: the same God who was with you in the waiting, who answered your prayers, is still with you as you continue this journey. A journey that calls on you to be a source of love, peace, and safety for your adoptive child—even when you don’t have all the answers.

Don’t forget: the Lord is with you too. Rely on Him.

Prayer for the Parents

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the life of this precious child. You know every part of their story—every joy, every wound, every unanswered question. I pray that You would pour Your strength into them each day.

When they face hard moments or feel different from others, remind them that You have given them courage to rise above. Let their heart be steady in the truth that they are wonderfully made, chosen, and never alone.

Grow resilience in them, Lord—not a hard heart, but a strong one. Teach them to lean on You when the world feels uncertain. May they discover hope in place of fear, and faith in place of doubt.

Surround them with people who will encourage, guide, and build them up. Help them see that their story is not one of loss alone, but of redemption, love, and purpose.

May this child walk forward with confidence, knowing that You have a good plan for their life, and that nothing can separate them from Your love.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer for the Child

Dear God,
You made me strong.
You made me brave.
When life feels hard, You are with me.
I am chosen, I am loved, I am never alone.
Thank You for giving me courage every day.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
