Get with God's plan

This is such a beautiful statement of God’s heart towards us. It recognises our mortality but assures us that God has a plan to reconcile us to Himself. I have had many discussions with believers and non-believers about God and His plans for mankind. Some are critical of God that they see His plan as either too hard or too simple.

Romans 4:16a puts it this way – ‘This is why the fulfillment of God’s promise depends entirely on trusting God and his way, and then simply embracing him and what he does. God’s promise arrives as a pure gift. That’s the only way everyone can be sure to get in on it,’ (MSG).

I love this plan because it’s accessible to everybody. God initiates it, He orchestrates it, and He delivers it through Christ’s death on the cross for our sins. As soon as you can comprehend it, we can receive it because God also helps us find faith to believe if we have a heart for it.

I often shared this verse from Samuel with my father-in-law, who came to faith late in life at the age of 80. I said to him, ‘Pop, God has a plan. Get with the plan.’ And he did, and we would give thanks together for another life transformed simply by receiving the gift of salvation through Jesus. Can I encourage you at this time to get with God’s plan and prove its effectiveness in your life and family?
