Dominion: Every Christian's Call

DAY 3 OF 4

We live in a culture obsessed with outcomes. But not every result is yours to force. 1 Corinthians 3:6–7 makes the roles clear: our lane is faithfulness, God’s lane is increase. Paul framed it in farming terms. He planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.

That truth will rewire how we understand success. It strips out pride and crushes despair. Pride puffs us up and says, “I built this.” Despair weighs us down with the confession, “I ruined this.” But faith steadies us and declares, “I obeyed, and God brought the growth.”

Planting begins with obedience. For Paul, it was preaching the gospel in Corinth. For you, it might look like honesty in business contracts, fairness in decisions, or faithfulness at home. Planting often feels small, hidden, or ordinary. But in God’s field, even unseen obedience carries eternal weight. Watering is the steady work that keeps a seed alive. Apollos carried forward what Paul began. In your world, it might mean showing up for your team, refining life rhythms, or staying steady in prayer.

Lastly, we see the line that humbles us all: God gives the growth. You cannot force the sprout or command the rain. You can plant and you can water, and you should. But the moment life breaks through the soil is His miracle. It is not the fruit of your management. Our enemy knows this, and he spoils the harvest by convincing you that you were the “secret sauce” all along.

That’s why our understanding of vision and provision must stay in step with God. Vision names the seed, and provision delivers the water. Without both, the field suffers. Vision without provision is seed still in the bag. Provision without vision is water wasted on the ground. But when they move together? That’s when God multiplies and brings a kingdom harvest.

And this is where our identity as kingdom citizens and priests comes into focus. As God’s people, we steward the resources that water the field. As priests, we carry the vision that names the seed. Both roles are sacred and necessary. Revelation 1:6 is not a theory; it shows up in the way you lead teams, release generosity, speak truth, and carry worship into your work. Kingdom life and priestly service meet in the soil of daily faithfulness.

But Scripture also gives us a warning. Genesis 11 shows what happens when people force growth on their own terms. Babel had bricks and manpower, but no patience for God’s design. Impatience became idolatry, and their project fractured into confusion. Forced growth eventually collapses. God-breathed growth may look small at the start, but it endures.

Wait well. God will give the growth in His time.

Reflective Question:

Where have I strangled God’s harvest by forcing growth on my terms?
