Dominion: Every Christian's CallSample

The Kingdom never expands by accident. God’s Word advances through voices that proclaim and hands that supply, whether from pulpits or boardrooms, job sites or startups at the kitchen table.
William Colgate began tithing from his first wages as a young soap and candle maker, convinced his business belonged to God. As Colgate & Company prospered, he lifted his giving until about half of his income and profits supported Bible societies, missions, and schools. By his death in 1857, he had released a fortune to fund seminaries, sustain foreign missions, and help distribute vast numbers of Bibles that carried the Gospel far beyond.
Colgate understood success as stewardship, not accumulation. Soap gave him a business, but scripture gave him a vision. This vision isn’t new. From the beginning, God blessed humanity and said, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion...” (Genesis 1:28). God’s blessing was humanity’s first calling: to take dominion as faithful stewards under His reign.
Revelation 1:5-6 builds on this very idea: Jesus “loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood, and made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever.” You are not a lone king chasing a private crown. You are part of a kingdom joined under Christ’s reign, carrying His authority together and advancing His dominion in every sphere. This vision lifts success beyond the personal and ties it to a calling that multiplies across nations and generations.
Revelation 1:6 declares we are both, entrusted to reign and to serve. When kings hoard resources, the kingdom starves. When priests neglect worship, the altar grows cold. But we only step into this authority when we see our entrustment as a Kingdom assignment. Your office, job site, or workspace becomes sacred when it is surrendered to Christ.
When you open your hands, you are not “just giving.” It is worship as priests and stewardship as kings. Like Colgate, your earnings can become eternal fruit when they are offered to God.
Jesus told Pilate, “For this cause I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world…” (John 18:37). His life was defined by cause and purpose. Paul teaches our lives share in the same design. God has “saved us and called us… because of His own purpose and grace” (2 Timothy 1:9). The King calls you to reign for His glory!
This is the crescendo of Kingdom calling. You are not saved to grind through a life of small pursuits. You were saved to reign with Christ, serve His people, and bear witness to the Gospel.
Reflective Question:
Am I building my own crown, or am I advancing Christ's Kingdom with what I have?
