Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 201 OF 365

He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy (Proverbs 28:13 NKJV).

Why is it wise to confess your sin?

David likely reflected on his sin with Bathsheba in Psalm 32, describing the heaviness of unconfessed sin: “Your hand was heavy upon me” (Psalm 32:4 NKJV). He learned the importance of confession, stating, “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13 NKJV).

If you’re holding onto unconfessed sin, take time right now to confess it to God and seek His forgiveness and guidance. Our heavenly Father is good and forgives those who seek His forgiveness (1 John 1:9). Don’t delay your confession.

Employment Point: Abstain from covering up your sin and confess it quickly to avoid God’s heavy hand.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
