16. Your Kingdom Come
Why: God’s plans reveal His rule
Lectio. “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10, NIV – read Matt. 6:9–13).
Meditatio. As He taught His disciples to pray, Jesus instructed them to first ask that God’s holiness be revealed to the world, that His royal rule be manifested, and that His purposes be fully accomplished.
Oratio. Pray always, putting first God’s revelation, rule, and fulfillment. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. Live God’s plans by prioritizing, desiring, and asking for them above all else.
Contemplatio. Contemplate God seated on the throne of the universe. See the One who has all authority in heaven and on earth. Notice how He governs nature, directs nations, and guides all events.
Confessio. “For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.” This phrase that closes the Lord’s Prayer has become a breath prayer for me. Knowing that God orders everything, fulfills His purposes, and receives the glory shapes my entire life.
