The PassionSample

I can’t imagine what it would have been like for Jesus’ disciples—their leader just told them that He would be crucified in two days' time. Jesus knew He was going to die, and the rulers at the time were ensuring that would happen. But 2,000 years later, we know that is not the end of the story. It was all part of God’s plan. What seemed like the beginning of the end was just another example of God’s incredible sovereignty in a time that seemed full of despair.
One of my favourite things about keeping a prayer journal is looking back through it and seeing how God answered my prayers over the years, often in ways and in times I didn’t anticipate, or probably wouldn’t even have chosen. What a relief it is to know that I did not have my way and that God was sovereign.
I now see the things that are going on in my life right now and answers that I’m waiting for as opportunities to look back on in months and years' time, and be in awe of what God was doing.
This short portion of the Bible reminds us that God is in control of all situations, regardless of how hopeless they seem. Both in the here and now, we can see that God’s way is better than our way. But even more broadly, the sins and the suffering we experience are not the end of the story. The Son of Man came to die, so that we might have eternal life.
Today, ponder this: What are prayers that you prayed for years ago that have been answered by God? Spend some time praising and worshipping Him for His sovereignty.

About this Plan

Journey along through Matthew chapters 21 - 28, tracing Jesus’ final days from His entry into Jerusalem to His resurrection. Each devotion unpacks the urgency, sacrifice, and triumph of Christ’s mission, revealing the depth of God’s love and the cost of redemption. Reflect on the Last Supper, Gethsemane, the cross, and the empty tomb whilst encountering Jesus in His suffering and ultimate glory. Whether preparing for Easter or seeking a fresh perspective, The Passion seeks to stir hearts to know Jesus and make Jesus known with hope, boldness, and passion.
