Family Advent Devotional - the Hope of ChristmasSample

The Angels Proclaimed Peace
Activity (Optional)
Make some angel-shaped ornaments out of paper, cardboard, or felt, and write a message of peace on them. You can choose to give these to a loved one or hang them on your Christmas tree.
Alternatively, you could make angel halos.
Devotional
On the night Jesus was born, something amazing happened. Out in the fields, some shepherds were watching their sheep, just like they did every night. But this night was different–suddenly, the sky lit up with a bright light, and an angel appeared! The angel said, 'Don’t be afraid! I have good news that will bring great joy to everyone. Today in Bethlehem, a Savior has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord!' (Luke 2:8-11, paraphrased).
Then, even more angels filled the sky and sang:
"Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests" (Luke 2:14, NLT).
The angels were celebrating because Jesus had been born. When they said, "Peace on earth," they were telling us that Jesus came to bring peace–peace between us and God, peace in our hearts, and peace with others.
