GENESIS 43
Once again, Joseph surprises his brothers with unexpected kindness: returning their money and offering them a meal. This shows that even though he suffered because of them, his heart remained the same — free from offense or judgment. Above all his pain, Joseph chose to restore the relationship with his brothers. From a human perspective, they didn’t deserve such care. But somehow, Joseph learned to see them through God’s eyes.
Through Joseph, the Lord shows how He sees us. He reveals that His heart for us is to love us despite our failures; to care for us no matter how much we reject Him. And through Jesus, He proves His love and gives us a seat at the table. Joseph gave his brothers a meal, and the Lord gives us the very Bread of Life that came down from heaven, the Water that quenches all thirst (John 6:35). In Him, we find everything we need, even though we’ve done nothing to deserve it. We are sustained and cared for by the Father.
LET'S PRAY:
Speaking of tables, one of the special things about life with God is the connections we make with people in the different places we visit. Pray for these connections! May the Lord connect you with the right people, whether in mission agencies, churches, or ministries. Pray for those who will be a channel of blessing in your life and that you may also be that channel for others!
