30 Days With the Psalms

DAY 24 OF 30

Sharing your testimony

“I will tell of Your name to my brothers;
in the midst of the congregation I will praise You” (Psalm 22:22 ESV).

David has experienced how God rescued him. He was in a very desperate situation, but God saved him from his enemies. That is good news! David does not keep this to himself, but shares it with others.

This has a twofold purpose: God gets the praise He deserves and other people can be encouraged by David’s story. Whenever they are in a similar situation, they can remind themselves of God’s salvation as recounted in this psalm. This can give them new hope that God can rescue them as well. David even expresses the expectation that “all the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD!” (Psalm 22:27 ESV).

As we read this psalm, we are part of this “congregation”. We read how God helped David, and are encouraged to seek His help in our own troubles as well. The Lord has not changed since David wrote this psalm; He is still able and willing to rescue us when we call upon Him.

And when you have experienced God’s salvation yourself, share it with others. Tell them what God did for you – so that He will be honored and fellow believers will be encouraged by your testimony.
