Three Years in 30 Days: Jesus' Life and MissionSample

Who is Jesus? Why should I get to know Him?
“Jesus is the only one who can save people. His name is the only power in the world that has been given to save anyone. We must be saved through Him!” (Acts 4:12, ERV)
The Bible is a large book. It features many characters. Some of them are mentioned only once. Others are described in detail—think of Abraham, David, or Paul. These stories contain valuable lessons for us.
But one person really stands out: Jesus Christ. No fewer than four books of the Bible are devoted entirely to His life: the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Moreover, many older books of the Bible already point to Him, and His teachings play a central role in the later books.
In the book of Acts, we read how people were willing to pay any price to tell others about “Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead” (Acts 4:10, ESV). Why did they consider this so important, and why does Jesus receive so much attention in the Bible? We find the answer in our reading for today: He is the only one who can save people. No wonder that four men took the effort to write down everything they knew about Jesus. For an entire month, we want to study their teachings about Jesus. Because He is the only one who can offer us true life and lasting joy.
- What do you already know about Jesus?
