Hebrews 11: Flawed but FaithfulSample

When Favor Feels Like Failure
Joseph’s story doesn’t start with pain—it starts with privilege. Jacob’s open favoritism bred jealousy and division, while Joseph’s youthful pride and dreams stirred resentment. What seemed like family drama was really divine preparation. Before Joseph could lead others, God had to lead him—through hardship, humility, and healing.
Instead of shielding Joseph, God refined him. He allowed betrayal, slavery, and false accusations to shape his character. Through it all, Joseph chose forgiveness over bitterness and trust over despair. God’s unseen hand of providence was always working—guiding, blessing, and positioning him for influence.
Joseph didn’t succeed because life was easy; he succeeded because God was with him. Over and over, Scripture says, “the Lord was with Joseph” (Genesis 39:2–3, 5, 23). Even in prison, Joseph prospered—not because of his situation, but because of God’s presence.
By the end, Joseph hadn’t just survived—he had thrived. He forgave the brothers who betrayed him and led the nation that once enslaved him. Why? Because he never lost what mattered most: God’s anointing. His story reminds us—God’s favor isn’t based on your position, but on His presence.
If God’s presence is enough for success, are you prioritizing His presence in your struggle?
