God Our HealerSample

“He Heals the Brokenhearted”
There is nothing more painful than a broken heart. Whether that brokenness came from a breakup, a divorce, a disagreement with a friend, or the death of a loved one, a broken heart can be excruciating! Pain comes in many forms. Some wounds are visible, like physical illness or loss. Others are hidden—heartbreak, betrayal, anxiety, regret. The kind of pain no one sees but you carry with you every day.
Psalm 147:3 reminds us that God sees, and more than that—He heals.
“He heals the brokenhearted…”
Not with quick fixes or empty words, but with the tenderness of a Father who knows exactly what you need. In ancient times, a shepherd would carefully bind up the wounds of an injured sheep. That’s the image here, God stoops low, draws near, and gently tends to every shattered piece of your heart.
There’s no shortage of ways people try to numb their pain, like through distraction, overwork, addiction, and isolation. But only God can reach the deep places where true healing is needed. Only His love can touch the places that no one else can reach. God can heal in ways that the world can’t!
He doesn’t rush your process. He’s not disappointed by your weakness or even your frustrations. In fact He meets you in it, and He stays with you through it all!
Keep in mind that healing is a journey, not a moment. Sometimes we wish God would snap His fingers and remove the hurt. And sometimes, He does bring sudden peace. But often, healing is slow and sacred, a daily walk with Him through grief, forgiveness, and restoration.
If you’re still waiting for healing, don’t lose heart. The One who made your heart knows how to mend it.
Questions for Reflection:
- What part of your heart feels broken today?
- Have you been trying to manage your pain apart from God’s presence?
- What would it look like to invite God into your brokenness instead of hiding it?
Prayer:
Father, thank You that You are close to the brokenhearted. You don’t ignore my pain or rush me to get over it. You heal gently, thoroughly, and in Your perfect timing. I bring my wounds to You today—both seen and unseen—and ask You to bind them up. I trust in Your love to restore me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
