35 Day Prayer Plan

DAY 30 OF 35

Day 30 – Lamenting Brokenness

The world is not as it should be. We see pain in broken relationships, sickness in our bodies, conflict between nations, and even creation, bearing the scars of sin’s curse. Paul reminds us that all creation groans, longing for redemption. Our lament joins in that groaning, acknowledging the brokenness of life while yearning for God’s restoration.

Jesus lamented the broken nature of our world. At one point in His ministry, He said, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me.” (Matthew 23:37, NLT). This world is not what He designed it to be, and He has gone through the work of restoration to bring us back to Him.

Lamenting brokenness allows us to be honest with God about our grief. It also points us toward hope. We lament because we know things are not how they should be, and one day they will be made right. Our groans are not empty cries, but prayers of longing for the fulfillment of God’s promises.

Even as we wait, the Spirit within us is a foretaste of what will come. God has not left us alone in this broken world. His presence comforts us and sustains us until every trace of brokenness is healed.

Today, look honestly at the brokenness around you and within you. Bring it before God in lament, trusting He hears and makes everything new. Let your sorrow fuel your longing for His kingdom to come in its fullness.
