35 Day Prayer Plan

DAY 34 OF 35

Day 34 – Lamenting Loss

Loss is one of life’s heaviest burdens; it breaks our hearts and reminds us of the fragility of life. When Jesus stood at Lazarus’s tomb, He entered into the grief of His friends. Though He knew resurrection was coming, He still wept. His tears reveal the heart of God, present in our pain, moved by our sorrow, and compassionate in our grief.

Lamenting loss allows us to bring our sorrow openly to God without pretending to be strong. Jesus Himself dignified tears, showing that He does not stand distant from our pain but walks with us in it. When we grieve, we can be comforted knowing our Savior understands loss personally and holds our broken hearts tenderly.

Lamenting loss is not faithless; it is holy. It honors the depth of love we shared with those we lose and acknowledges that something is not as it should be. God does not ask us to minimize our grief or rush past it; He meets us in it.

Yet even in grief, we cling to hope. Loss does not have the final word because Jesus is the resurrection and the life. While lament voices our pain, hope anchors us in the promise of eternal life, when God will wipe away every tear. In Christ, every loss will one day be redeemed and restored.

Today, bring your grief to God in prayer. Let your tears be an offering, knowing that He welcomes them. Trust that He is present in your sorrow and that His promises of resurrection and restoration are unshakable.
