Daily EncouragementSample

“God himself” - there can hardly be more encouraging words than these when we think seriously of living a holy life. The dynamic for holy living is divine. The work of sanctification is God’s work in us.
It is “the God of peace” who makes us holy, not the God of fireworks! Sanctification is not necessarily a noisy process. Mind you, “the God of peace” is powerful, raising our Lord from the dead, crushing Satan under his people’s feet (Heb. 13:20; Rom. 16:20).
God’s work is thorough, affecting every part of us - spirit, mind and body - “through and through.” And it is not done in a moment. True, Paul prays for a finished work, but it is “a process seen in perspective and so contemplated as a complete act” (Vine). “The revelation and communication of holiness must be gradual, as man is prepared to receive it,” says Andrew Murray. “God’s sanctifying work with each of us needs time.”
God’s work is sure and certain. His call is effective. He is faithful and will not give up till the task is finished. “God himself” will do it. Truly grasping this truth has been a turning point in the life of many a seeker after the secret of a holy life.
