Devoted & Watchful: A 5 Day Devotional to Faithful LivingSample

Day 4: Wise Interactions
Observation:
Wisdom and grace should mark our words, especially toward those outside the faith. The early church wasn’t known for loud arguments but for their compelling love, clarity, and humility. James adds that heavenly wisdom is pure, peace-loving, considerate, and full of mercy.
To be “seasoned with salt” means our words bring flavor, preservation, and healing, never corrosion or division. Our tone matters just as much as our truth.
Application:
Evaluate your recent conversations. Were they marked by grace and wisdom? This week, ask God to help you speak with intentionality and compassion, especially in difficult conversations. Listen more than you speak, and seek to understand before responding.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, fill my heart and mouth with wisdom and grace. Teach me to reflect Jesus in my conversations and lead others closer to You through how I live and speak. Amen.
