Romans 15
Full of Goodness and Knowledge
Paul writes to the believers in Rome with deep affection and respect: “I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another.” He wasn’t flattering them—he was affirming the evidence of God at work in their lives.
Paul knew their lives were marked by genuine transformation. They were full of goodness—not just in attitude, but in the fruit of their lives. They were filled with knowledge—not just head knowledge, but a Spirit-led understanding that allowed them to build one another up.
He writes boldly to them, reminding them of what they already know. Sometimes we don’t need new information—we need to be stirred again in what we already carry. Paul says, “God gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God… so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.”
Paul isn’t writing as a distant theologian—he’s a man with a calling, a specific grace given to minister to the Gentiles. And he sees the Roman believers not as consumers, but as participants. They’re capable of strengthening one another. Their lives are part of the offering being prepared for God.
