Open HandedSample

One of the best things about God? He doesn’t force us into anything! As humans, we live with complete and total free will. That means we can choose to do whatever we want with the freedom we’ve been given in this life. While God could’ve forced us all to follow Him (He is all powerful, after all!), that’s not the path He chose. God wants us to choose to follow Him, choose to love Him, and choose to live life walking in His ways. Like all freedom, there’s always a choice. That’s what makes Paul’s words in Galatians so important here. We have a choice to use our freedom on behalf of ourselves or to use it to serve others. When we posture ourselves with closed hands around our time, resources, skills, and more, then we likely won’t end up using our freedom to serve others generously. But when we open our hands and offer what we have to serve others, then we’re living out true generosity. Then we’re using whatever freedom we have the way God called us to use it: for the good of all and for the glory of His Kingdom.

This week, spend time in prayer asking God to open your eyes to how you can use your freedom to help others and to open your hands to actually use those things to serve.
