The Extra Mile: A 5-Day Devotional on Finding Faith and Purpose by Evan CraftSample

Day 5: After the Fall, Keep Riding
Somewhere in Argentina, outside Mendoza, I fell hard - literally. As I was riding, I hit a divider and slammed into the pavement. Whew, I was shaken…and embarrassed…and hurting.
That fall could’ve easily ended my ride. But something deep down kept me going, the truth that God doesn’t define me by my failures. He uses them. He meets me in them.
I’ve fallen more than once in my life - spiritually, emotionally, even relationally. I’ve lost friends. Made mistakes. Doubted myself. But every time, Jesus met me with grace. He never left me in the dirt. He lifted me up, dusted me off, and reminded me I was still called.
The road of faith isn’t perfect. It’s paved with falls, and we’ll get bruised along the way. But the goal isn’t to never stumble, it’s to get back up when we do. That’s how we go the extra mile.
The Extra Mile Challenge: Where have you fallen recently, and what would it look like to get up again, with God’s help?
