Holy, Healthy, Whole: Growing Fruits of the Spirit for Weight Loss and Wellness

DAY 18 OF 30

God’s Voice

…And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. Colossians 3:10 (NIV)

How many times a day do you say negative things to yourself, especially about your body, your weight, and your eating?

When I was 100 pounds heavier, I had a terrible mean girl inside of me. She was awful!

I mentally said things to myself like...

  • I’m so fat.
  • I’m ugly.
  • My thighs are huge.
  • Ugh, look at all that arm flab.
  • I am so out of shape.

Colossians 3 tells us that we are made in the image of God, our Creator. If I’m made in God’s image, what does that say about Him when I continue to insult myself and this body He created?

You may have listened to the enemy's lies about your body for so long that they seem true.

God’s voice is...

  • Kind
  • Loving
  • Patient
  • Good
  • Gentle

Satan’s voice is…

  • Condemning
  • Guilting
  • Punishing
  • Hurried
  • Hopeless

Today’s challenge is to counter the enemy's lies with God’s truth.

Reflection: What are the lies of the enemy that you’ve believed about your body and weight? What does God say?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are a good Father! So many times, I’ve bought into the lies of the enemy. I’ve put down my body, which is your creation. Give me the strength today to tune in to the truth of Your words and live them out in my life. Thank you for the body and life you’ve given me. I am humbled and honored to accept these gracious gifts. In Your name I pray, Amen
