Be Your Best to Give Your Best!

DAY 11 OF 30

Day 11 — Acceleration Over Excess

There are activities, relationships, projects, or habits that may seem exciting and stimulating, but in reality, are not aligned with the season we are living in and the vision God has for us.

The truth is that not everything that is good or available is necessarily right.

The Apostle Paul expressed this principle with great clarity: “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial" (1 Corinthians 6:12, NIV). In other words, there are things—not necessarily wrong—that we could do, but don’t actually move us forward in God’s purpose for us. Things that may seem appropriate, but that drain our energy and attention away from what is truly beneficial and fruitful.

Therefore, it is essential to learn to recognize distractions that disguise themselves as opportunities. Doing this requires:

  • Discernment to identify what is no longer useful
  • Courage to say “No” to what may gratify us but does not advance God’s purpose for our lives;
  • Faith to believe that by letting go of the excess, we will gain clarity and acceleration.

God invites us to run with perseverance the race He has marked out specifically for us. To do so, we must strip off every weight that slows our pace. Scripture makes this clear: “Let us throw off everything that hinders [...] And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus” (Hebrews 12:1–2, NIV).

Our eyes must remain fixed on Jesus, because only then can we discern which commitments are truly fruitful and aligned with His purpose, which relationships build us up, and which projects are consistent with the vision God has given us.

In light of this, pause to reflect on the times you have allowed yourself to be distracted, shifting your focus away from an important goal. What recurring distractions cause you to veer off your main path in daily life? And how are these distractions influencing your progress toward the goals and the vision God has entrusted to you?

Prayer: Lord, I want to run the race You have set before me with perseverance and lightness. Show me everything that weighs me down: habits, relationships, thoughts, or commitments that do not help me move forward in the purpose You have for my life. Give me the courage to let them go. Help me fix my eyes on You, Jesus, and remain faithful to the path You are calling me to walk. Amen.
